I’ve heard about the annoying questions that toddlers ask incessantly over and over and over again (is it redundant to say that, or am I merely expressing the gravity of the situation?). The famous one, of course, is “Why?” (more…)

What are you doing Mommy?
January 27, 2012“90 minute sleep program”
January 22, 2012If you’re a parent, and if you have had issues with your child sleeping, then GET THIS BOOK! Or at the very least, check it out of the library. It’s the most amazing, and one of the more interesting books I have read about sleep as it refers to kids. I have read several books about getting children to sleep through the night and getting them to nap, but this one actually works. Better yet, it still works today two years later on August. (more…)
Finally!
January 20, 2012Stop the press. You’ll never believe what I got to do for the first time in two plus years today! I actually took a complete, more than two-minute, shower while August happily played with his toys. Sure I got some frequent visits telling me about how his dump truck was stuck in the ocean, but who cares. I stood in that shower thinking, “Wow. How long is this going to last? How long until he starts whining that he wants to get in with me? Let’s find out.” (more…)
Being a role model
January 19, 2012August and I had one hell of a fight yesterday over lunch. He’s on this kick lately where all he wants is what’s about to go into my mouth, even if we’re eating EXACTLY the same thing. After what felt like months of this behavior (probably only a few days), I prepared exactly the same lunch for both of us but that wasn’t good enough and we both had a minor breakdown over our three bean soup and pasta. He started crying because I was refusing to give him my bowl of soup, and after I tried to explain to him that his soup was the same as mine, I gave up and walked off into the kitchen to busy myself while he composed himself. SAHM
January 18, 2012We went to a wedding this weekend without August, and we saw a few people that we haven’t seen since I quit working to be with August. Would you believe every single one of them had the same reaction? “Oh, wow, that must be nice, not to have to work”. Umm, excuse me? Not have to work? Did we suddenly become rich and no one told me about it? (more…)
Day Four: Norfolk/San Francisco
January 13, 2012I should have known better than to brag about August’s happy mood the past few mornings. Today I awoke to August crying while saying, “I want the meal that was in my mouth”. I have to admit I really enjoy hearing the first words he speaks when he wakes up in the morning because I’m guessing it is a continuation of his dreams. Pretty fun to find out what he dreams about, even if they are bad dreams. (more…)

Day Two: Pittsburgh/Norfolk
January 11, 2012In case you haven’t read yesterday’s post, today’s post and the next couple of days will be a potentially boring recap of my days with August while my husband travels (we don’t want him to miss anything)….enjoy, or skip it, up to you! (more…)
Day One: Pittsburgh
January 10, 2012My husband left today on his second business trip since he started working full-time in July, and he was very sad about missing out on August’s life over the next three days. Therefore, in a tribute to him (although this may bore some of you, and for that I apologize) I’m going to tell him about our day, every day, over the next three days. Enjoy! (more…)
