Snoozefest 2011

Let me reiterate I’m an incredibly light sleeper.  I have always have been, and now that I’m a mom, I’m secretly blaming my mother for that.  We had to go through many, many, many nights over the last two years listening to August cry while he “self-soothes” himself back to sleep.  Each time we hear him cry it gets easier and easier to ignore him without much guilt especially since we are crossing our fingers that he will sleep like a champ for the rest of his life.  (As a side note, we’re not the Ferbers in our methods, but we do let him cry sometimes.) I’m pretty sure my mother just never let me cry because I wake up with the slightest noise, change of temperature, a light going on, or a slight 2.7 earthquake at 11pm at night. (more…)

2:30am

For weeks now, I’ve been waking up at 2:30am, and I can’t fall back to sleep until I “change venues” as I like to call it.  Meaning, I can’t fall back to sleep until I get out of my incredibly comfortable bed with the softest sheets in the world, move to the living room and set up camp on the sofa .  Last night I was being stubborn, hoping I could fall back to sleep in my bed, but no such luck and at 4am I gave up and moved into the living room where I promptly fell asleep after hearing our neighbor the “finance guy” go to work. (I’m guessing he’s in finance because I don’t know of any other industries, except doctors, that are crazy enough to wake up that early.) (more…)
