Wedding Bells?

I’ve always thought it was strange, and kind of icky when parents of toddlers/babies talk about marrying them off.  I mean, come on, the boys don’t even know their belly buttons from their penis (or is that just my kid?).  I also don’t understand why one would even say that?  What is that about anyhow?  Parents have some desperate need to know their kids are, what, heterosexual and will someday get married and live happily ever after?  Is that what it’s about?  Seriously, if you are a parent, and you have made this comment before, can you please explain it to me?  Because, I don’t get it. I’ve been asked out!

You’ll never guess what happened to me today (fine, so I gave it away in the title, but does EVERYONE read the title?).  After almost six months of wearing my best “mom clothes” (yoga pants and sweatshirt), my best “mom makeup” (none), my new “mom shoes” (Keen sneakers), and dressing August to the nines every day, we were FINALLY asked out on a play date.  Here’s the account of how it happened. Tete a Tete

August is one of those children that likes to watch and observe other children before deciding whether to approach them for a tete a tete.  He is also more likely to approach others when he feels comfortable in a situation, whether it’s in his own home or in a place he’s been many times before.  Once these things line up he’s all about going up to others and offering them a leaf he found, or talking about his jacket, or trying to share his cereal.  It’s so cute I can’t stand it – to watch him go up to other children and try to have a conversation with them is awesome.
